About the Music:
This is my favorite album from 2008. If you haven't heard it, you owe it to yourself to listen. I don't care if you've never heard of her. Take a chance, this one time -- you won't be disappointed. If you don't get chills from the title track, you're probably a cyborg. Jenny Lewis brings it all, she's the total package of shit kickin' rock, country, folk, and soul.

Technical Notes:
Album was fairly loud already as it's obviously from a digital master (most vinyl releases from current artists are), so there was no need to apply any gain. Recording levels with my EMU 0202 set at minimum volume still yielded levels around -6 db throughout. Even though it's digitally sourced, it's still a TON better than the CD which has even LESS dynamic range. The music, instrumentation, and the way the album was recorded (almost entirely live) totally lend itself to vinyl -- the drums really breathe, the strings sound organic and sweet, and the vocal harmonies sound so much more natural on the LP vs. the CD. Nobody has released a good rip of this record... until now.
